Kublai Khan

Asia is a wonderful place. I have learned so much here! The Great Khan has taken me under his wing. I am encouraged to travel to other regions of Asia, and I am the first European to have been to some of the places. There are so many marvelous things, such as paper money. It is used in place of gold and silver, has none of it's value. I also learned of coal, which is much more efficient than wood for burning fires, especially with so many people in one city.
The palace is the most amazing building I have ever seen... it is endorned with gold and silver and has huge halls; some of them could hold 6,000 people. It is supported by cane tied by silk ropes, which allows them to disassemble the building and move it elsewhere. The Great Khan keeps 10,000 pure white horses on the land for his family to drink milk from.
Although I had the most amazing experience here, I want to go home. After 23 years away from Venice, I miss it. We are planning our journey back soon.

The Gobi Desert

I am traveling to the Great Khan with my father and uncle, to bring back the gifts that they had promised. We crossed the Taklamakan Desert on our way to Cambaluc, where the Great Khan resides.
We have almost finished crossing the Gobi Desert, a vast expanse of sand and mountains and valleys. It is void of life, with nothing growing, and nothing to eat. Traveling over the desert is an arduous task to take on. It is so long it would take a whole year for one to cross it from end to end, and even at the narrowest point, it would take a month. We used camels for most of the journey.

Welcome!

Hey guys!
Welcome to my new travel blog. My name is Marco Polo and I love visiting new places. I am a Venetian merchant and I got my love of travelling from my father and uncle, who went to Asia and met Kublai Khan😝 before I was born. I am so excited to share my travels with you all!
